Gordon Phillips (Gord)

Gord Phillips has 25 years of experience in commercial and construction litigation and arbitration. He practiced at Singleton Urquhart and then at Stikeman Elliot in Vancouver, appearing at both trials and appeals before establishing his own practice in 2004. Gord has represented clients in matters involving municipal law, lawyers’, accountants’, engineers’ and architects’ negligence, bankruptcy, shareholders’ disputes, insurance coverage, real estate disputes and wrongful dismissal matters.

He is a published author of:

  • ‘Compensation for Losses Stemming from an Injured Party’s Impecuniosities (1982) 20 Osgoode Hall L.J. 19;
  • ‘Personal Remedies for Corporate Injuries’, (Carswell, 1992); and
  • The chapter on Construction Contracts in the Continuing Legal Education Society’s ‘Real Estate Development Practice Manual’.

Gord is particularly adept at using his knowledge as a former mathematician and physicist to master technical issues, and using his skills as a former teacher to present them in ways that can be easily understood by the industry and the courts.
